Meet The Team

Our goal is to provide high quality health care for your entire family. We treat the whole spectrum of medical conditions ranging from simple ear and sinus infections to more complex problems like heart disease and cancer.

Andrew Pasternak MD, MS

I started Silver Sage Center for Family Medicine because I wanted to build a different kind of practice. Patients should expect a pleasant experience from everyone in our office. Everything aspect of your care  should be convenient, timely, professional, and of high quality.    We’re proud of the fact that we’re the only clinic in Nevada to have achieved Health Insight’s quality award every year since it’s existence.

We don’t use technology just because it is “neat” or “new”. We will only incorporate technology to help improve our medical care to patients.  Our main goal is to incorporate technology to streamline the hassles our office staff faces, so we can spend more time with you, our patient. We are committed to using our time to focus on providing you and your family with the care you deserve.

Medical Technology is constantly changing.  Each week new medicines, new tests, and new procedures are developed. Learning how and when to use these technologies is key to being a good primary care physician. We’re not only committed to learning about new medical therapies at Silver sage Center for Family Medicine but also fully understanding how we can best apply these  technologies to improve your health.

Finally, we’re most proud of our commitment to our community.    We have been members of 1% for the Planet since 2007 by making donations to local environmental charities.   We also have been proud sponsors for a number of local events, races and charities.   Giving back to our community is the best way we can show our appreciation for you trusting your care with us.

I enjoy working with patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, and I enjoy getting to know patients on a more personal level. That’s why I chose family medicine.

The field of family medicine allows time for meeting with a patient”s family members, which helps in understanding their social interactions and how their family lives shape their well-being. A patient’s well-being is greatly affected by the social network and support system that is their family.

I chose to pursue osteopathic medicine because of my strong interest in physical therapy and my desire to help each patient create an environment that allows the body to heal itself by incorporating elements of preventative nutrition, manual therapy, exercise prescription, and medication. I encourage patients to take an active role in their health care, and emphasize close communication as the key to building a strong patient-physician relationship. I enjoy seeing patients with a variety of medical concerns, but I have a special interest in women’s health, musculoskeletal disorders and diabetes.

I am excited to join Silver Sage Center for Family Medicine as of April, 2018.  I have enjoyed a career as a family physician and providing care across all ages.  Offering family-oriented, comprehensive primary care to all ages and truly getting to know my patients and their families has made medicine exciting and rewarding throughout my career.  I also have focused interests in cancer prevention, treatment of cardio-metabolic and vascular disorders such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure, as well as comprehensive children’s and women’s healthcare.

I have completed research in the areas of public health, global health and community medicine and have participated in research and program development to improve global health abroad.

I speak Spanish and have a strong commitment providing culturally competent care to all.

I continue to participate in the UNR preceptorship program to help train the future generation of physicians.

My family and I have called Reno home since 2004.  We enjoy the outdoor beauty and sport that the Reno/Tahoe area provides.  In addition to a love for travel, history, and culture, I enjoy listening to and playing music and staying active in volleyball, soccer, skiing, and backpacking/hiking.
